Homemade Potato Chips

Homemade Potato Chips with Homemade Pink Onion Dip (GF)

This recipe makes two small bowls of chips.
Cooking time varies.
Bake at 350 degrees.

You will Need:
  • Ingredients
    • 7 Yellow Potatoes
    • Sea Salt
    • Black Pepper
    • 2 tsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
    • Water
    • Avocado Oil
  • Tools
    • Cooking Sheets
    • Knife
    • Bowl
    • Oven
  1. Peel the potatoes.
  2. Slice into thin, but not-too-thin slices. (Thin slices are more prone to burn and/or fall apart).
  3. Place potato slices into a bowl, rinse.
  4. Refill bowl with fresh water, making sure the potato slices are all submerged.
  5. Add Apple Cider Vinegar to the bowl.
  6. Allow the slices to soak for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  7. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  8. Coat sheet pans with some Avocado Oil.
  9. Place potato slices on the cooking sheets.
  10. Sprinkle with Sea Salt and Black Pepper.
  11. Bake on 350.
  12. Check often as the slices will cook at different rates.
  13. When they have turned a golden brown color they are crispy. (Lighter ones will be chewier).
  14. Enjoy!

It's a time consuming process and, truth be told, I am not supposed to eat potatoes per my health restrictions... but sometimes I crave potato chips SO very much that I do cheat. Purchasing pre-made potato chips in a bag may be easier, but they also offer a lot more ills: harmful oils, WAY too much salt, and other preservatives. And I always end up feeling so sick after.

These homemade potato chips definitely do not make me feel ill, and going through the work of making them makes me consider if I truly do wish to break away from my nutrition plan. It's a helpful exercise actually. So, if I am going to eat something that is less than the best for me, I prefer to opt for the lesser of the evils. That's you homemade potato chips!

I hope you guys enjoy them too!

Thanks for reading!
